SUMMARY:Notta Grand Prix Round 1 - Lakeside Park
DESCRIPTION:Notta Grand Prix Round 1 – Lakeside Park\nWhat’s it about? The purpose of the Notta Grand Prix is to have family fun on wheels in a safer environment than the road. It has been designed to a price-point where it is easily affordable. Notta Grand Prix is available to all members of the public from the age of 12. Road registered cars can be used and are welcome. Come on\, you can get your wife & kids involved and help them develop the right attitude to recreational motoring in this family oriented event.\nThe Entry Fee is $990 per Vehicle for each event and a Team will consist of between strictly four and six drivers per Vehicle. Teams are required to field at least four drivers for each event.\nEach Team is to have a nominated TEAM LEADER. Team Entry available HERE\n\nAnybody who takes this Event too seriously should not consider entering the Event we offer many other competitive events. Check out the trophies & you’ll see what we mean. Notta Grand Prix is like a long distance-regularity and not an out-and-out race. With this parameter\, Drivers will only need a RACERS Clubman Licence to play in these events – Available HERE\nNotta Grand Prix is expected to provide an activity for multiple generations in a family and a “Race With Your Mates” team building exercise for groups from a Participants place of work or clubs.\n\nThe challenge for each team is to get as far as they can\, as soon as they can; for as little as they can\, all against a minimum lap time of 72 seconds. Big powerful cars will need more pit stops which\, at 7 minutes each\, will almost certainly mean the well driven economical cars will have a definite advantage.\n\nFormat of the Series:\nThere will be a series of 4 special Sunday only events which consist of 6 hours of track time at Lakeside Park. No other categories will be attending these events. The format and content of this Event is different from anything that has been done before so please read on. Entrants could think of it as a 24-hour race with a LOT of time for repairs.\n\nVehicle Eligibility:\nVehicles must be based on mass-produced\, four-wheeled vehicles that were legal for Registration in Australia at the time of their manufacture. Vehicles must meet the minimum requirements displayed in the RACERS Operations Manual. Open top cars must have race-worthy roll over protection.\n\nTotal Investment:\nWe would suggest that a maximum of $4000 should be spent on the vehicle. This is a cheap car challenged and any vehicle purchases and parts purchases should be made with that in mind.\nSafety Equipment\nAll equipment and Apparel must meet the requirements displayed in the RACERS Operations Manual.\n\nDriver Apparel:\nDriver’s must have long sleeved clothing to be able to compete as well as enclosed shoes and a helmet – this is the minimum requirement for this event.\n\nDrivers Radio:\nIt is a requirement that every driver on the circuit has a working Race Radio. This is required for safety and traffic management so Race control can advise the driver of incidents and penalties. Drivers Radios are available for purchase or hire from the office on the day.\n\nNoise Limit:\nAt Lakeside Park the noise limit for a Vehicle is 90dB at 5 metres. Lakeside has an active monitoring system\, if you are recorded as breaching this system; then you will be called in and required to modify your vehicle to meet this requirement before re-joining the event.\n\nTyres:\nOnly one set of tyres per Event is permitted without a penalty. Tyres must be roadworthy i.e. have at least 1.5mm tread depth all across the face of the tyre and be free from any significant cuts in the sidewalls. Tyres must be Street legal. Type R street legal track type tyres are now permitted\, but not recommended.\n\nHow the Event is run:\n07:30 Gates open and pit setup can begin.\n08:45 Compulsory Driver’s briefing.\n09:15 Pit exit is open.\n09:30 The timing system will begin counting laps.\n12:30 Timing will cease and pit exit will be closed.\n13:15 Pit exit will re-open.\n13:30 The timing system will resume counting laps\n16:30 Timing will cease and pit exit will be closed.\n16:35 All cars must be back in the carports.\n17:00 Trophy presentation along with refreshments and finger food.\n\nAwards:\nTrophies are awarded on the day. The Trophies are decided by recommendations of the officials (so look after your officials!) Some examples of what could be awarded with are as follows:\n• “Skinflints” – Cheapest car raced on the day\n• “The $tretchers” – Highest number of Laps per $ spent\n• “The Impertinents” – Best “Send up” car\n• “Pit Queen” – the car with the longest time in the pits with >3 hours on track\n• “The Whining Diff” – Team that did the most whingeing (voted by the other teams)\n• “Old PHARTS” – trophy for highest total age of drivers & car\n• “The Good Guys” – Team that gave the most help to others (voted by the other teams)\n• “Notta Enough” – Best bribe offered to the time-keepers\n• “I’m quicker than I thought” – the Most ridiculous excuse for going under 72 Seconds\n• “The Gardening Award” to the team that has the most offs\n• “Consistent As…” awarded to the team that does the most laps between 72 & 75 seconds\n• “See ya later Grandpa” to the most consistent driver under 15\n\nNote that there are no winners’ trophies as such. Teams that complete all 4 events at the end of the season will get a special “Tuff Enuff for 24 Hours” with a picture of the car and team members on it to hang up in the shed.\n\nMinimum Driving Age Requirements:\nThe Minimum age is 12 at the date of the race. Clubman licenses are available for purchase for an annual fee of $95 or a single event only licence is available for $50.\n\nDriver Duties:\nTEAMS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A MINIMUM 4 DRIVERS.\n50 minutes at the wheel during each session is the maximum that a driver is allowed\, the minimum Pit Stop time is 7minutes. NOTE: there is no point putting in a big fuel cell to get an advantage as you are still required to stop every hour.\n\nConduct during Pit stops:\nWhen coming in the Pits your minimum stop time is 7 minutes. There is no rushing in the pits as you have seven minutes to do a fuel and/or driver change. Any regular mechanical work may be done during a pit stop except when refuelling is occurring. Before re-entering the circuit\, the Driver will receive a code word over the Race Radio from Race Control and must relay this to the Marshall to gain entry to the circuit.\n\nMechanical Work:\nThere is no maximum number of crew members permitted to attend to a vehicle during Pit Stops.\nIf repairs or adjustments are required underneath the car\, jack stands must be in place before any team member puts any part of their body under the Vehicle.\nPit crew must also wear enclosed shoes and long sleeve clothing.\n\nRefuelling:\nThe vehicle must have no occupants during refuelling.\nAll refuelling of the vehicle must be carried out in the area designated as the Refuel Zone under the supervision of the Fire Marshalls.\nThe vehicle must be stationary at all times during refuelling.\nNo servicing of the car may take place until refuelling has been completed.\n\nPit area Speed Limit:\nThe maximum speed in the pit area is 10 km/h.\n\nMinimum Lap Time:\nThere is not much point building a car that can go around Lakeside in much less than 72 seconds as we will give time penalties of up to 10 minutes and you will be sent back to the pit bay to be beaten up by the rest of your team for every time you are caught “breaking out” of the 72-second limit. Yes\, Dorothy\, 71.9999 seconds will cost your team valuable time!\n\nPenalties:\nPenalties will be applied to teams at the discretion of Race Control and the officials. The more you do wrong\, the bigger the penalties! (They might even throw in some out of the box penalties).\n\nDriver Conduct:\nAll Drivers need to remember that this event is designed for families\, and as such there will be newer and inexperienced drivers on track. Give room for other Drivers and allow them to drive at their own pace. Any Drivers found to be “bullying” whilst on the track will find themselves removed from the event and have to explain it to their team!\n\nPlease see our Cancellation and Refund Policy before entering.\n\nURL: https://lakesidepark.com.au/\n\nCategory: Sprint Meeting\n\nContact Information: admin@lakesidepark.com.au
